- To procure freezing
microtome (kryostat),
utramicrotome and
transmission electron
microscope for upgradation
of existing histology
laboratory of the
department.
- The department is
planning to reform and
improve existing
cytogenetics laboratory.
- To establish molecular
Cytogentics Laboratory both
for experimental as well as
clinical research work.
Genetic epidemiology will be
developed and nurtered. A
window for genetic
counselling will also be
established.
- Establishment of
teratology Laboratory and
development of neuroanatomy
laboratory.
- To procure Horizontal
Laminar flow, trinacular
microscope with digital
camera attachment, Image
analyser, Fluorescence
attachment for existing
zeiss microscope, Triple
distilled water plant,
pH-meter, electronic
balance, Homogenizer, vortex
mixture, gel documentation
system and table top
centrifuge.
- To establish a section
for CT scan and MRI for the
purpose of teaching cross
sectional anatomy to
students.
- To send the faculty for
training for electron
microscopy, endoscopy,
Molecular cytognetics and
finger printing.
- To send the technician
for specialised training to
run the above mentioned
instruments.
- The department is
planning to organise guest
lectures by eminent
scientists, conferences and
workshops etc.
- Health exhibition for
awareness among general
public regarding teratogens
and their effect on
development during prenatal
as well as post natal
period.

- Faculty members are
actively involved in
research, undergraduate and
postgraduate teaching in the
department as well as in
other disciplines also.

Patient Care Services |
- Dr. S. Dhungel performs
diagnostic upper
gastrointestinal endoscopy
service every Sunday and
Wednesday.
- In the Cytogentic
Laboratory of the department
diagnostic Karyotyping and
barr body examinations are
performed by Dr. A.K.Saxena,
Dr. C.B. Jha & Dr. Monika
Thapa.
