- Community Diagnosis
Programmes:-As an
integral component of
undergraduate teaching in
Community Medicine, two
week's residential
Multidisciplinary Community
Diagnosis Programme (from
1st Oct to to 14th Oct 2004,
135 students ) in the rural
community was organized for
MBBS, BDS and B.Sc. Nursing
First Year for 2 weeks. The
program was conducted at
Takuwa VDC. The following
activities were carried out
by first year students
during their Community
Diagnosis Programme. Takuwa
VDC, Morang.
- Community diagnosis
by door to door survey
- School health
program.
- Health survey,
Health education, Health
Exhibition Visit to
Sub-Health Post.
- Medical check up
camp and health
exhibition.
- Epidemiology for
Health Management (EPIDMAN):-As
an integral component of
undergraduate teaching in
Community Medicine,
Epidemiology for Health
Management (EPIDMAN) was
conducted by Department of
Community Medicine for VIth
Semester MBBS Students from
1st April to 13th April 2005
on various topics to achieve
the desired objective. The
studies were conducted in
and around Inaruwa, Duhabi
and Biratnagar.
- Management Skills for
Health Services (HEALTHMAN):-Management
Skills for Health Services
was conducted by Department
of Community Medicine for
VIIIth Semester MBBS
Students from 7th March 2004
to 20h March 2005 to achieve
the desired objectives. The
students were divided in to
3 groups and sent to three
different Zonal Hospitals,
i.e, zonal hospitals of
Rajbiraj, Biratnagar and
Bhadrapur
- Training of Xinxiang
Medical College students on
the Principles and Practices
of Community Medicine in
Nepal:-
- The third year MBBS
students from XinXiang
Medical College were
posted at the Department
of Community Medicine
from 22th August 2004 to
7th October 2004 for
Public Health Field
Posting (84 students).
- This year around 100
third year MBBS students
from XinXiang Medical
College, China are
coming for Public Health
Field Posting at
Department of Community
Medicine, BPKIHS from
1st Aug to 7th Sep.

- Health Exhibitions on
XIth Annual Celebrations 1-3
Sep 2004 was co-ordinated by
Dr. N Jha, Department of
Community Medicine.
- The month of February
2005 was celebrated as
Iodine Deficiency Disorders
month with health Education
Programs in 7 Schools of
Sunsari and Morang
Districts.
- World Health Day 2005
was observed on 7th of April
with the following
activities.
- Multidisciplinary
talk program organized
by the department and
Prof S Nagesh and
participants from
pediatrics and Obs/Gyne
departments spoke on the
theme "Make Every Mother
and Child Count" and
other health Issues at
Auditorium, BPKIHS.
- Health Education
Program and Poster
Presentation was
organized by the
students of VI semester
MBBS and Supervisors
from Community Medicine
focusing at Madhesa VDC
Inaruwa District
Hospital.

the conduction of workshop
on "Competency Based
Curriculum Design" Organized
by BPKIHS From 24th April

- Celebration of World
Environment Day 2005 on 5th
June 2005 at Janata Ma. Vi.
Narsing VDC with the theme
"Green Cities: Plan for the
Planet". Various programs
like Rally, Drawing
Competition, Tree
plantation, Essay
competition were held to
mark the day at Janata Ma.
Vi. Narsing VDC. Prof. S
Nagesh, Prof. Devi Bd
Shrestha, Dr N Jha, and Mr
Deepak KC and members of
School Spoke on the
importance of trees in the
environment. The program was
supported by INGO SEAM-N.
- Dr. RM Pandey Associate
Professor from AIIMS, New
Delhi visited Department of
Community Medicine for the
Conduction of "Training in
Clinical Epidemiology" in
the month of July 2005, as a
resource person, jointly
organized by WHO and BPKIHS.
He was also involved in
consultation services to the
Junior Residents for their
thesis works.
