The Department is functioning through a team of trained
faculty members in health professions education (formerly
known as medical education department). The team has
been named as Health Professions Education Core Group
(HPECG).
Constitution:
Keeping in view of fostering quality in certificate,
undergraduate and postgraduate education in the field
of health professions;
Assessing a need of continued-learning newer and
innovative techniques of health professions education
by all teaching staff; and helping educators to gain
increased understanding of basic principles of teaching
and learning and to achieve skills necessary to apply
the principles effectively;
Realizing to developing a permanent resource center
of educational expertise for medical and other health
sciences education in planning, developing, and evaluating
academic programs and conducting educational researches
and facilitating all teaching staff in academics and
professional development in a structured way;
BPKIHS has reconstituted Health Professions Education
Core Group with the following members and the terms
of reference.

Terms of Reference:
1. Develops a calendar of operations for conducting
scientific and educational activities supportive to
academic programs, e. g. teachers training on teaching
learning techniques, student assessment and program
evaluation to name a few.
2. Promotes young faculty members to receive training
on educational techniques.
3. Develops faculty development training programs.
4. Promotes interest on educational research amongst
faculty members.
5. Develops and updates teaching learning materials
(e. g. curriculum, logbooks, AV-aids, etc) required
for running all academic programs in consultation
with concerned departments or program coordinators.
6. Identifies resources internally and externally
for conducting health professional activities, and
develops an inventory.
7. Receives feedbacks from various program coordinators
on implementation of different curricula and plans/organizes
curriculum review workshops if necessary
8. Suggests and develops learning environments suited
for various curricula.
9. Helps develop overall academics of the Institute
and enhances the quality of education in all programs.
10. Develops modules for short-term training on health
professions education and attract trainees from other
schools for the training and international students
for elective studies.
11. Helps generate funds by offering trainings to
teaching staff and elective opportunities to international
undergraduate and postgraduate students in consultation
with the departments.
