- Head & Neck Oncology
center: Prevalence of Head &
Neck Malignancy in Nepal is
very high. Unfortunately
there are hardly any well
equipped institutions and
well trained personnel in
head and neck oncology. We
desire that BPKIHS has a
potential to lead on this
issue.
- Personnel training:
Keeping this thing in
mind we need to train
our present faculties to
develop state of art
head and neck onco-surgery
skills. For this we
suggest that one of the
Nepali faculties may be
sent to highly reputed
institution in India
like TATA MEMORIAL
HOSPITAL for long term
training; so that after
coming back they can
utilize the knowledge
for setting up a quality
onco-surgery unit.
- Laser surgery set
up: As a part of onco-surgery
unit we need Complete
Laser surgery set up and
photodynamic therapy
which can help in the
holistic management of
head and neck cancer
patients
- Radiotherapy center:
Any head and neck
oncosurgery unit can’t
work efficiently without
the support of
radiotherapy center. We
desire that radiotherapy
center should be started
here and till the time
it is set up our
co-operation and
co-ordination with
Bharatpur cancer center
should be maintained.
- Neuro-otology & Cochlear
implant programme: We have
already started vertigo
clinic as a stepping stone
and futuristic culmination
of it should be in the Neuro-otology
center and cochlear implant
programme. For the same we
need
- ENG Machine : ENG
machine is a basic tool
for any Neuro-otology
clinic
- Audiologists &
Speech therapist: We
have expressed the need
and concern on this
issue by requesting to
start Audiology & speech
therapy school in this
institute.
- Workshops & Conferences
:We intend to organize
temporal bone workshop at
BPKIHS this year, which
would enrich the experience
of our residents and
faculties both. We also
intend to host Conference of
Association of
Otolaryngologists of Nepal
at BPKIHS
